LSOFT PRODUCT GUIDE

Choose the edition and license after the product

Match the features to your task, then check the license for how and where you will use the software.

Which license fits your use?

Choose the situation that describes your intended use. These are the main licensing scopes; the options available to buy depend on the product and edition.

Personal: home and non-commercial use

Choose Personal when you are buying for your own non-commercial use. The license is registered to an individual. Business, academic and government use requires an appropriate organization license, even when only one person operates the software.

Check the selected product's allowance for installations and computers. The word "Personal" alone does not specify how many computers are covered. Data Studio's license comparison is an example of the Personal and Corporate distinction.

Corporate: an organization or IT department

Choose Corporate for business, academic or government use when you need a defined license quantity. The organization purchases the coverage needed for its deployment. Some product websites use the name Business for this option.

Count the computers or bootable copies you need to use and check the permitted concurrent use in the product's agreement. A single Corporate license does not automatically cover the entire department. If you move the software to another computer or reassign its use within the organization, follow that product's transfer and activation requirements.

For KillDisk, the number of computers running the software and the number of disks erased at the same time are both relevant. Consult the KillDisk licensing FAQ for the current quantity rules. Those erasure limits are not a licensing formula for recovery or backup products.

Site: unlimited use at one physical location

Choose Site, where offered, for unlimited use within the licensed organization at one physical office, facility or location. This can suit a busy IT department or a facility that would otherwise need many individual licenses.

Confirm the location and registered company or department name when ordering. A Site license does not extend to every office simply because the offices belong to the same organization. If you need coverage across locations, compare Enterprise or the product's other organization-wide option.

Enterprise: offices and branches worldwide

Choose Enterprise, where offered, for unlimited use across the licensed organization's offices and branches worldwide. This can suit an organization with multiple facilities or geographically distributed IT teams.

The coverage belongs to the registered organization. It does not automatically include separate companies or departments with different legal names. The KillDisk agreement and Data Studio agreement specify the registered company or department scope for Site and Enterprise licenses. If subsidiaries, separate legal entities or customer-owned computers are involved, confirm the required coverage with sales.

Edition, license and product differences

An edition determines which features and tools are included. A license determines how the software may be used and deployed. Choose both: a more advanced edition does not automatically grant broader deployment rights.

The four scopes above are not four purchase options for every product:

  • Data Studio offers Personal, Corporate, Site and Enterprise licensing.
  • Disk Image presents Personal, Business and Enterprise choices. Check its own installation allowances and agreement.
  • Boot Disk offers Site and Enterprise options with the Suite edition; its Windows and Windows ARM editions offer Personal and Corporate licenses.
  • File Recovery offers Personal and Corporate licenses for Standard, Professional and Ultimate, plus an Unlimited option for Ultimate.
  • Partition Recovery Ultimate offers an Unlimited worldwide corporate license.
  • The UNDELETE license comparison and Live CD order page also use the name Unlimited. Confirm the available edition and deployment scope in the selected product's offer and agreement.
  • KillDisk Industrial has its own software and hardware configurations. Specify the equipment, simultaneous disk connections and throughput when requesting a quote.

Use the current product comparison

Before ordering, confirm the product, edition, license quantity or scope, locations and registered organization name. If you work on customers' computers, include that use when requesting advice or a quote.

Evaluate before purchase

Use the evaluation, demo or freeware download offered on the product page to check hardware compatibility and the required workflow. These downloads can have different feature or recovery limits; read the conditions shown for that download. An evaluation result is not a guarantee that missing or overwritten data can be recovered.

Software use, support and updates

A software license and a support/update entitlement answer different questions: whether you may use the software, and which assistance and newer releases are included.

For KillDisk, the published policy includes one year of support and software updates with a new license. After that period, you can keep using the version you already have; extending support and updates is optional. Keep your installer because not every previous release remains available to download. See the KillDisk support and update policy.

Check the selected product's current offer for its included support period, update eligibility and renewal charge. A support renewal price is not the purchase price of a new license.

Use the Customer Center to review your purchases, downloads and upgrade options. If your license scope or renewal entitlement is unclear, contact LSoft with your order details.
